  • The EMV (Chip Card) is a fraud-reducing technology that can help protect your business and your customers against losses from the use of counterfeit and lost or stolen credit cards.
  • 2015 – The “EMV liability shift” was implemented to encourage retail businesses to increase card security and reduce counterfeit fraud.
  • 2017 – Liability shifts for Automated Fuel Dispensers
  • If your business is still using the magnetic strip only devices and your customer has and EMV Chip Card, you are liable for any fraud that may result from that transaction as well as for any chargeback.
  • EMV Chip Cards use a new encryption for every sale, making transactions more secure.
